Raspberry Lime Sparkler with Basil

jar filled with muddled raspberries and basil
Serves 4

Virgin:
1 lime, quartered
1/2 pint raspberries
4 large sprigs of basil, hand torn (plus 4 more for garnish)
2 cups limeade
Whole Foods Market Italian Sparkling Mineral Water
ice

Otherwise:
all of the above except mineral water
1 can of beer
approx. 4 oz gin (or to taste) 

In each glass, squeeze one quarter lime wedge and drop in.  Add 1 sprig of basil and a few raspberries, muddle.  Add ice to fill glass half way.  Add 1/2 cup limeade.  If virgin, fill glass with sparkling water and add 1 sprig of basil.  If otherwise, omit sparkling water and instead add a quarter can of beer and 1 oz gin.  Garnish with basil.
